Zero-Turn vs Ride-On Mowers
We often get asked whether a ride-on or zero-turn mower would be more suitable to your needs on the farm or in the backyard.
The benefits of choosing a zero-turn mower include:
- Faster across the ground
- More manoeuvrable
- Less thirsty for fuel as a result of the quicker work
The disadvantage, however, is that they can’t take a slope quite like a ride-on mower can. As ride-on mowers are fitted with solid axles and more sturdy, single differential drivers, they can take on a larger slope safely without fear of losing traction on one wheel. Zero-turns can certainly take on slopes, but nothing too large. A commercial range of Zero Turns with larger decks is worth investigating.
If you’ve got a large, relatively flat area, zero-turn mowers would suit you perfectly. We’ve found customers that have larger yards and paddocks full of trees absolutely love their zero-turns because they can finish jobs in around half the time, making small work of trees and other obstacles. There is certainly a learning curve to zero-turn mowers, but once you’ve got a hold of it, they’re so much fun and the time you save is worth it.
Please give us a call on (07) 4162 4533 or visit our showroom if you’re unsure whether a zero-turn or ride-on mower would be suited to your needs.
